Depart Amsterdam through the flat Dutch polders. The guide introduces Count Floris V, the castle's founder and one of medieval Holland's most colourful figures — he was eventually murdered here by his own knights in 1296.
Cross the drawbridge into Muiderslot's circular courtyard.
