Château de Pizay

Built between the 11th and 19th centuries, Château de Pizay stands at the heart of the Beaujolais region, with over a thousand years of history, notably preserved and restored. The 80-hectare estate combines forest and vineyard, between the Brouilly and Morgon appellations.

Today the property offers 62 rooms and suites in total — 48 Duplex Suites in an annex behind the château, and 11 "Comfort" rooms plus 3 "Grand Comfort" rooms in annexes in front of the château. None of them are within the château building itself, which is reserved for common spaces, the restaurant and the wine cellar.

The château's thousand-year documented history, spanning construction from the 11th to the 19th century, gives Pizay one of the longer continuous building timelines in the France collection, even though guests never sleep within that historic structure.

The complete separation between the historic château — reserved for communal and wine-related spaces — and all 62 guest rooms in surrounding annexes is a deliberate operating choice rather than a partial or incidental split, distinguishing Pizay from mixed-location properties where a few rooms remain in the original building.

The estate's position between the Brouilly and Morgon appellations, two of Beaujolais's ten named crus, ties Pizay directly to the region's most celebrated wine terroirs.

The property's location near Belleville-sur-Saône, about 45 minutes from Lyon, gives guests staying at Pizay convenient access to the wider Beaujolais wine route and the city itself.
