Razzano Castle

Relais Castello di Razzano is a historic residence with more than 200 years of history, set in an enclosed courtyard surrounded by Italian countryside. The property was acquired by the Olearo family in 1968 from the Caligaris family, and the old coaching inn that forms part of the complex was built centuries ago at the heart of the estate.

Today the castle operates as a charming relais within a 100-hectare estate dedicated to wine and olive oil production, in the heart of the Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Guests are welcomed directly by the Olearo family, who personally share their connection to the castle and the territory.

The Olearo family's more than five decades of ownership since 1968, following the earlier Caligaris tenure, gives Razzano a genuinely personal, family-run character distinct from corporately managed resort properties elsewhere in this collection.

The estate's coaching inn origins, built centuries before the current residence, point to Razzano's historical role along a regional travel route, a function distinct from the purely defensive or agricultural origins of many other Piedmontese estates.
