Castles in Monaco

The world's most densely populated sovereign state, Monaco has been governed by the same family since a disguised monk opened the fortress gate in 1297. The Prince's Palace on Le Rocher — the limestone rock above the harbor — is the seat of the Grimaldi dynasty, Europe's oldest reigning house, and the most continuously inhabited royal residence in the world. Open to visitors from late March to mid-October.
