Kolštejn, also known as Goldenstein, is a Gothic castle first mentioned in 1325 that guarded the trade route from Silesia to Olomouc. In the 15th century it became a fortress, and in the 16th century it was rebuilt as a Renaissance château.

Over more than 700 years it belonged to 11 noble families, among them John of Luxembourg, the Žerotín family and the Liechtensteins. In the Thirty Years' War the imperial army used it against the Swedes; afterwards its importance declined and the buildings served as a brewery and a school.

Passed to the municipality and later to the state, it was nearly demolished by the end of the 20th century before a full reconstruction turned it into a hotel, dated to 2016 by Czech travel listings. Today the complex also has a guided tour, a café and a gallery in the Jeseníky foothills.
